FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

The AEE website states that applications need to be submitted four weeks in advance of attending the CEM training. There is not time to do this before the May 23-27,2011 date, can I still attend?

The timeline for the application as posted on the AEE national website advises a long lead time for your application to be approved.  The completed application is not a prerequisite for attending the training and completing the examination.  The application process can be completed throughout this timeline and can be completed when you have gathered all you need for submitting the application.  The CEM application does not register you for the class.  Please click the link to Register for the CEM Class.

The AEE application states that the examination fee must be paid with the application.  Your website states that the tuition includes the exam costs.  What do I do?

This regional training offers a different price and value than the price posted on the AEE national website. The examination fee is included in the tuition. You can register for the CEM training at the link above.  Please use the application link below to apply for the CEM. There is a section on this In House training application where you enter the location and date of the training.  You do not have to pay the examination fee to submit your application.

The AEE website states I need to be an AEE National Society Member to become certified. Do I need to do that now?
You do not need to become a member to complete the CEM training and sit for the exam.

I don’t think I have enough experience to qualify for the CEM. Is it worth taking the training?
There is an intermediate category of certification, an Energy Manager In Training (EMIT) certification.  The application for that is linked below. The intermediate certification allows you time to build on your experience in the energy field.  The training provides you with the tools and training to analyze and manage the energy use in the built environment. It gives you training to address the costs savings and the energy savings of energy efficiency measures.

The CEM examination will be administered at the seminar site beginning at 08:00 AM on day 5 of instruction.
CEM Certification also requires AEE National Society Membership. AEE Membership can be obtained here.

The CEM certification process requires submitting a separate application. The CEM application form and further information on the CEM program are available by visiting:  http://www.aeecenter.org/files/certification/CEM-LiveSeminarCompleteApplicationINHOUSE.pdf

There is also a Energy Manager In Training certificate for those who qualify:
