Driving Energy Efficiency Through Strategic Management

The presentation will provide a high level look at how Strategic Energy Management  supports a comprehensive approach to managing energy costs and improving facility energy efficiency.  As an approach focusing on organizational culture change, the presentation will discuss what is Strategic Energy Management, some of the key features of a successful energy management program, and how end-user organizations have successfully implemented it, including benefits and outcomes.

Jim Volkman, Principal

Mr. Volkman has spent his 25 year career working in the energy efficiency industry.  As a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer, he has provided the full spectrum of technical services to commercial and industrial end-users, from energy audits and project implementation to savings verification and utility program management.  More recently Mr. Volkman’s work has focused on commercial building operations and optimizing energy performance of existing systems and equipment through changes in operating practices and procedures and occupant behavior change.  His high performance building workshops delivered through utility programs around the country promote and teach continuous operating improvement to sustain building performance and energy savings.  Locally Mr. Volkman manages the delivery of the Energy Trust’s Strategic Energy Management Program – Continuous Energy Improvement.
