Energy Assessments Target Portland’s Smallest Buildings + New Rebate Offer

In the fall of 2012 the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) hired SOLARC Engineering and Energy+Architectural Consulting to perform energy assessments for small commercial buildings in Portland. BPS would make these assessments available at no cost to owners and tenants of commercial building under 10,000 square feet. This sector was targeted because of their historically low uptake in energy efficiency improvements and because of the size of the market; more than 80% of commercial buildings in Multnomah County are under 10k square feet.
Marlowe Kulley (Project Coordinator at BPS) and Mike Hatten (Principal at SOLARC) will discuss innovative aspects of the program, recruitment efforts and results from assessments completed to date. BPS will also announce a new, limited-time rebate offer that will significantly reduce the cost of making energy efficiency improvements in small commercial buildings.
